Our Story

In 2011 Dr. Sharaf was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia. She was taking conventional medications in excess of $1,300 a month with no relief.

It was during a teaching course in 2016 in Saudi Arabia, that Divine intervention came into play. A senior physician approached Dr. Sharaf and suggested that she find relief through the ancient healing modality of cupping.  Dr. Sharaf had never heard of cupping before and decided to give it a try.   The day she went in her pain was an unbearable 10/10 and she was willing to try anything – she left that first session with a 50% reduction pain.  She was grateful for the relief but being a physician and researcher she needed answers and she set out to find them.

What she discovered was cupping was helping with fascia release, the lymphatic system and the nervous system.  She saw that this modality was a compliment to modern medicine.  Dr. Sharaf has since taken 14 certified courses in cupping, acupuncture and myofascial release.  She is certified in Canada and the US. She has trained over 100 physicians in Egypt to offer cupping as an adjuvant therapy.

Living in Ottawa Dr. Sharaf wants to bring this ancient modality to Ottawa.  She wants to teach physicians, physiotherapists, chiropractors, nurses and any medical therapist about the benefits of cupping as an adjuvant therapy.

Her clinic provides a variety of cupping services to the public.

More about cupping

Cupping benefits patients suffering from:

  1. myofascial dysfunction,
  2. rheumatoid arthritis
  3. chronic fatigue syndrome
  4. chronic non-specific low back pain
  5. musculoskeletal problems;
  6. myelodystrophy;
  7. chronic headaches
  8. helps with multiple sclerosis
  9. migraine attacks;
  10. facial palsy,
  11. drop foot
  12. sciatica;
  13. problems with peripheral circulation as Raynaud’s phenomenon.
  14. Diabetic neuropathy
  15. Plantar fasciitis

As well it has benefits for general health and wellness.  Dr. Sharaf discovered that they (international cupping associations) were using micro cups for facial rejuvenation with incredible results not only for anti-aging and beauty but for acne reduction, scar reduction, TMJ release, and sinus relief.

Here is an overview of how cupping works.

Cupping is useful for any area that is painful or tight.  Through negative pressure it pulls and stretches the tissues beneath the cup.  As the cup is manipulated and moved around, it stretches the fascia and muscle tissues, while the negative pressure pulls the fluids out of the tissues.   These fluids contain all the toxic by-products of injury, including old blood cells, inflammatory chemicals and toxins.  Once it is brought to the skins surface, your skin’s blood flow clear out the waste.  Pretty simple.

Our Mission Is to Provide a Professional Approach to Cupping Therapy

Professional & Highly Skilled In Cupping Therapy

I’ve been to Dr. Nivin’s clinic once. She is professional and highly skilled in cupping therapy. Her prices are reasonable. She used brand new instruments on me. She is very patient and took her time when she treated me. I didn’t feel rushed. I also liked the fact the she didn’t try to sell me stuff I didn’t need. I highly recommend her. I had two major health issues when I saw her and I am pleased with the results of my first session. I am going back for a second session and will probably continue to see her.
